Dr. Clifford Saper graduated with his MD and PhD degrees from Washington University and did his neurology residency at Cornell/New York Hospital under Drs. Fred Plum and Jerry Posner. After time on the faculty at Washington University and the University of Chicago, he became the James Jackson Putnam Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and chaired the Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 1992-2021. Dr. Saper was the Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Neurology from 2013-2021. He studies the brain circuitry for wake-sleep and circadian rhythms and how this is affected by neurodegenerative disorders.
