Dr. Danielle Sandsmark, MD, PhD is a neurologist who focuses on the care of patients with severe brain injuries treated in the neurological intensive care unit. Her research interest is in long-term clinical outcomes after severe traumatic brain injury. She is interested in understanding and developing clinical markers that can be detected at the time of injury and are predictive of long-term cognitive and functional outcomes after traumatic brain injury and critical illness. She works in collaboration with colleagues in neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, critical care medicine, and neuropsychology to better understand how individuals recover after moderate-severe traumatic brain injury.
