Dr. Douglas Postels, MD, MS finished training focused exclusively on patient care, and spent 12 years as a clinician. He eventually realized this was not his passion. Resigning his job, he joined Médecins Sans Frontières in Africa. Afterwards, he transitioned into global health, focusing his efforts on improving the treatment of children with cerebral malaria. Dr. Postels spends 6-11 months annually at the Blantyre Malaria Project in southern Malawi. He is the PI of a Phase I/II clinical trial of an Investigational New Drug for CM, and lead a team investigating improving the usefulness of EEG in caring for African children with febrile coma.
