Dr. Ghayda Mirzaa is a geneticist and researcher with board certifications in Pediatrics from the American Academy of Pediatrics and Clinical and Molecular Genetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Dr. Ghayda Mirzaa graduated from the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain and then pursued pediatric residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago followed by fellowships in clinical genetics and molecular genetics at the University of Chicago and the University of Washington. She is currently an attending at Seattle Children’s Hospital who staffs the Epilepsy Genetics and Neurogenetics Clinics, program director of the Neurotherapeutic clinic and co-director of the molecular diagnostic lab at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on many aspects of human developmental disorders including understanding the causes, mechanisms, and outcomes of these disorders, and associated co-morbidities including autism, epilepsy and intellectual disability, with a special focus on brain malformations.
