Dr. John England is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, a fellow of the American Neurological Association, and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Society for Neurological Investigation, the Society of Neuroscience, the Peripheral Nerve Society, and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. England served as chairman of the Polyneuropathy Task Force of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He was also the chair of the Guidelines Development Committee of the American Academy of Neurology from 2009-2013. He is a past-president of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine as well as the American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology.  He is a past-Chair of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM).  He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Neurological Sciences, which is the official journal of the World Federation of Neurology and serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of World Neurology and eNeurologicalSci.  He is the Chair of the Publications and Communications Committee for the World Federation of Neurology and the President of the Applied Research Group on Neuromuscular Diseases for the World Federation of Neurology.  He is a Councilor for the Association of University Professors of Neurology (AUPN) and the Chair of the AUPN Program Director Liaison Group.  In addition, he has served as an editorial consultant to many other peer-reviewed journals, including Muscle and Nerve, Annals of Neurology, European Journal of Neurology, The Lancet Neurology, and Neurology. Dr. England’s major clinical interests include neuromuscular diseases (especially peripheral neuropathy) and electrophysiology, and his major research interests are the pathophysiology of peripheral neuropathies and sodium channel modulation in experimental models of peripheral neuropathy. He has authored or coauthored more than 300 articles, reviews, chapters, and abstracts.
