Monica Maria Diaz, MD, MS

Dr. Monica Maria Diaz completed a neurology residency at Yale University and a fellowship in neurological infections and neuroimmunology at University of California, San Diego and then an NIH Fogarty Global Health fellowship in Lima, Peru. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Diaz’s research interests include cognitive impairment in people living with HIV, particularly in Latin America and among Latinos living in the US, and burden of Alzheimer’s dementia and related disease in international settings, and improving neurological care in low-to-middle income countries. Dr. Diaz has received funding from the AAN, the Alzheimer’s Association and a K23 career developmental award from the National Institute of Health to support her research. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Global Health section fo the AAN.
