Sarah Shahmoradian, PhD
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
Dr. Sarah Shahmoradian earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine in 2013. Her research utilized cryo-EM and cryo-ET to elucidate protein aggregation mechanisms in neurodegeneration. As a Roche Postdoctoral Fellow, she demonstrated the centrality of membranes and lipids in Parkinson's disease pathology. Her lab now uses advanced imaging and biophysical techniques to study protein aggregation and lipid interactions in neurons, aiming to understand their macromolecular basis in neuronal diseases and develop new correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM)-based technologies.
