Dr. Vinita J. Acharya, M.D. is an academic neurologist and epileptologist working as a Professor of Neurology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. She obtained her medical school training followed by residencies in Internal Medicine and Neurology in India before moving to the United States, where she completed a residency in Neurology at the University of Texas in San Antonio and Saint Louis University, and fellowship training in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She is board certified in Neurology and Epilepsy. She has received several national and international research and teaching honors. She has been named a “Distinguished Educator” and has been inducted into alpha Omega Alpha honor Society. She is a recipient of an A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology. She has published several papers in peer reviewed journals and given numerous invited presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Acharya is very passionate about medical education and advocacy leadership. She has completed multiple Harvard Macy Institute courses including the educators’ course and a program on “Leading innovations in Education and Healthcare” and currently serves as an Honorary faculty at Harvard Macy Institute. She serves on multiple national and international committees including the ANA Awards committee.
