Dr. Ahmed Anwar is the Chief of Neurology at AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute in Orlando. He is a neurologist with expertise in movement disorders and is currently a staff member at AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in movement disorders, tremor analysis, Parkinson disease and related neurodegenerative disorders including genetic conditions such as Huntington chorea. He is also an expert in dystonia and botulinum toxin injection for dystonia, and deep brain stimulation for movement disorders. He received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi. He completed a clinical fellowship in movement disorders at Cleveland Clinic, a fellowship in surgical approaches for movement disorders and motor physiology at Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital, and a residency in neurology at Detroit Receiving Hospital/University Health Center. He developed interest in movement disorder during his residency which led to two years of fellowship including surgical approaches to treat movement disorders at Columbia University New York. During his fellowship he gained extensive experience performing tremor analysis, intraoperative brain mapping and DBS programming in patient with Parkinson’s disease. He has extensive experience in selecting patient for deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson disease, essential tremor and dystonia. Dr. Anwar had the opportunity to work at prestigious institutions including Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona and Cleveland Clinic Ohio where he headed the DBS program. During his fellowship directorship, he mentored many fellows and that are currently employed with renowned institutions. He is a clinician and has extensive experience in areas of research focusing on Parkinson disease, Parkinson disease dementia, dementia with Lewybody, as well as Huntington disease. He is a principal investigator on multiple clinical trials in area of Parkinsonian syndromes including dementia with Lewybody.
