Dr. Kevin Barrett is a board-certified vascular neurologist and has served as Chair of the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Florida since 2021. Dr. Barrett is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his neurology residency at Mayo Clinic Florida and his vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Barrett is a Professor of Neurology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and was the founding director of the Neurohospitalist Fellowship program. He has served as medical director of the Mayo Clinic Telestroke Network Southeast Region and as co-director of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Stroke Center. Dr. Barrett’s research focuses on acute stroke therapy and stroke prevention having served as the director of recruitment for the multi-center National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke-funded SHINE and CREST-2 trials. He is also an investigator for the multi-site DISCOVERY trial designed to identify the determinants of post-stroke cognitive impairment.
