Leticia Tornes, MD

Dr. Leticia Tornes. MD, FAAN is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Chief of Neurology at the Miami VA Hospital. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she also completed her Neurology residency, Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship, and a Multiple Sclerosis fellowship. Dr. Tornes is a clinical educator and is the Associate Program Director for the residency program (former PD for 10 years) and serves as the Associate Vice Chair of Graduate Education. She has been awarded the Chairman’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the 2023 AAN’s Program Director Recognition Award. Dr. Tornes has special clinical and research interests in multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). She has served as site PI or co-investigator on multiple, multi-center clinical trials in MS and NMOSD. Dr. Tornes serves as a trustee on the Board for the Mid-South Florida Chapter of the National MS Society. She also serves on American Academy’s Graduate Education Subcommittee and has worked on several task forces through the AAN. Locally, she also volunteers her time at the San Juan Bosco free clinic run by the UM medical students.
